Venue

Meeting point: St Philip with St Stephen Church, 1 St Philips Place, Salford, M3 6FJ.

The show will take place in the underground crypt beneath St Philip with St Stephen Church.
Access is via one door and stone steps.
The floor is uneven and the ceilings low in places.
There is some electric lighting, during the performance lighting will be minimal.

Guides will be available at all times should you need to leave or go to the 'safe space'.

If you have any physical / psychological problems which may be relevant to being in this space, please talk to us and we can discuss this with you prior to booking.

Inspired by true stories of addiction in all its guises, THE CRYPT PROJECT is a new play which invites you to explore.....

Taking place in an underground crypt, until now, closed off to the public, you will map your own journey through the maze of tunnels to unearth the jigsaw-puzzle narrative. The story will emerge from all around the audience for a unique 360 degree experience.

Research Workshops

We visited recovery centres, communnity centres and residential projects in Salford to do creative workshops with service users as a springboard for writing The Crypt Project.

The Cardboard Canvass

THE CARDBOARD CANVASS, on the streets of Salford, read ‘Addiction is...’ Passers by responded verbally, wrote their views, thoughts and drawings.

The Crypt Project is inspired by workshops and interviews with recovering addicts and community groups in association with Salford Drug and Alcohol Action Team who work closely with the recovering community of Salford. Read about our workshops and watch our short film here.
