The Crypt Project : New Depths
Following an invitation from the Library Theatre and The Lowry to take part in their Re:play festival, we created this new piece of site-specific theatre for the underbelly of The Lowry in January 2012.
A promenade play inviting you to take an immersive, sensual journey into the realms of addiction, inspired by true stories.
Weaving through the undiscovered depths of The Lowry’s underground chambers, this 360º experience is an unforgettable glimpse into our hidden worlds.
This is a development of The Crypt Project created for Salford's crypt in May 2011.

The Lowry Theatre hosted the annual Re:play festival, an exclusive second chance to see the best fringe theatre of 2011 in Manchester and Salford. This is the second year running we have been part of Re:play.
We were one of only six companies lucky enough to be invited to take part in this high-profile event. The odds were really stacked against us even being considered for selection as the play in question was originally performed in Salford's underground crypt!
The Crypt Project : New Depths is a promenade production that explores the daily struggles and triumphs of those living with addiction in its many guises. It is a development of our acclaimed production The Crypt Project.
Re:play 2012 is a co-production between The Lowry and The Library Theatre.
Originally designed, created and performed in Salford's underground crypt, this new piece of work will be specially created to occupy the underground realms of The Lowry at Salford Quays.
We will transform the urban maze beneath The Quays Theatre at The Lowry to create a unique theatrical experience. The space is incredibly evocative with corridors weaving through the usually hidden parts of the theatre. Ceilngs go from vast expanses of space where you feel like a little ant to turning round a corner to find a restricted headroom concrete chamber. Our favourite bit is directly underneath the Quays Theatre stage with huge corkscrew springs where the sounds leaks through from the stage area above. Expect a real adventure with plenty of twists and turns!
